Armor Upgrades for Followers gone AWOL - posted in Dragon Age 2 Mod Troubleshooting: Are you guys aware of any mod that causes the various follower upgrades to simply disappear after acquiring them? Im playing through DA2 for the first, and Im still in Act 1. So far I have obtained upgrades for Aveline and Carter - I found Carters in that family house adventure, bought Avelines from a merchant. One way to check this: while in the Armor Crafting screen, switch to a different character to preview the armor on. If the model doesn't change, it won't have upgrade slots. So, for example, if you preview Warden Scout armor on Sera, Cole, and Varric, and it looks the same on all of them, it won't be upgradeable.

Armor upgrade windowNearly every weapon and armor can be upgraded by fitting it with characteristic elements, e.g. Greaves for the armor, or the blade for swords. You can also use runes, which are often available for both. Legendary items usually have, at least, one upgrade already. Elements can be both assembled as much as they can be disassembled. This means that if you find an interesting weapon which is worse than your current one, but may have an interesting rune/upgrade - remove it before you sell the weapon.It is very important not to confuse the upgrades. Light pauldrons cannot be used in heavy armors and upgrades for the staff cannot be used in a two-handed axe.

Always make sure that you are using the correct schematic.

There is a difference between Origins/Awakening and Dragon Age 2. There is another decrease in the number of gifts someone can be given. Another difference is the fact you have to go back to the companion’s home base in order to give them said gift, which I find quite irritating. At least we don’t have to go around and find them new armor like the previous games. Just their four upgrades. WHOO!
