This is a 480p @ 30FPS camera.First thing you want to do is charge the unit (at least a full 3 hours), do not plug it into a computer, try using a cell charger that has a USB plug (It's faster).Hold power for 3 secs, then press once on the top button to start recording video, again to stop. This is a short video from when I left the recorder on inside a vehicle.- Edited - I just noticed the video I uploaded is bad, Amazon must have an issue with there encoding. I can tell you that the video and audio do NOT look and sound that way.

My only guess is the conversion over to the format Amazon uses maybe corrupted the file. Update - stopped working after week or so. The instructions that come with the device are useless, as the translation from Chinese is really unintelligible.

Just google Mini Video Camera MD80, and you'll find lots of re-written and clear instructions in English. Some common errors I read about: you must insert a micro SD memory card in the device for it to work, so if you're trying to play around with it without one inserted, it will not work. Second, the device has to be fully charged (and there is no indicator to show that it is fully charged. I found the quality to be very acceptable. I just wanted to have a small camera handy for running and biking. I also needed it for a neighbor who had a bad dog, and he was not owning up to its behavior, and this allowed me to document it.

Such a small camera as this has many uses, and it is more convenient than taking out your phone - it has a lapel clip that allows you to just clip it on a shirt or jacket. It flashes, and people know that they are being recorded. It does every thing I need, and I am glad that I did not spend any more money on a more expensive device, since I do not need high quality video, just something to document incidents in this sometimes unfriendly world. It does every thing I need, and I am glad that I did not spend any more money on a more expensive device, since I do not need high quality video, just something to document incidents in this sometimes unfriendly world. I've only had this a few days, but here are my initial observations:- The camera takes surprisingly good video. I haven't done much more than test it around the house, but I am impressed. We'll see how it is in action. I can see using it to record when I have to take something apart so I can more easily put it back together when.- As others have said, the directions are pretty bad.

Not the worst I've come across - I've seen 'cause an earthquake' used to describe 'vibration mode' on other inexpensive electronics - but it did take some trial and error to finally figure everything out.Bottom line so far is that for less than $10, it's a bargain. Pros:The camera that I received does power on and work correctly, record decent quality video and audio seems to be pretty decent.Cons:All recorded images, while of decent quality appeared to be zoomed in quite a bit. After doing a bit of research online, it appears that the camera that I received and that is listed is not a MD80, but a D001 which is a more inexpensive version of the MD80.According to research I've done, the reason the images look zoomed is that the D001 has a Angle of View of only 20 degrees due to the sensor / lens combination being used. I would recommend purchasing a true MD80, or one of the MUVI DV cameras. In doing my research, I found some tips to use if you come across a listing for a MD80 to tell if its truly an MD80 or a D001.Appearance:MD80: Matt frontD001: Shiny frontButtons:MD80: Slide switches for power & modeD001: Push switchesTimestamp:MD80: Time stamp is whiteD001: Time stamp is yellowBottom line, this camera works OK but if your using this for any documentation purposes such as security or law enforcement I would probably make sure you get a real MD80 or one of the MUVI cameras. So far, so good. I can see how others have said the directions are difficult to follow, as the users manual seems to be written in broken English at times.

Still, understanding and getting it to work correctly is not entirely impossible, it just takes a little time. When I say a little time, I mean 30 minutes or so. Not that this makes much of a difference but I am female. I'm not technically or mechanically inclined, I just know how to follow directions.

The image quality is pretty decent and the audio is fine as well. It isn't an expensive device so you can't expect perfection here, but for what I paid for, I think I got it and a bit more. I'm happy with my purchase. I also paid full price for this so my opinion really is non biased. I just got this a few days ago, and I have to say that if you want a camera on the rim of your shirt or the bottom of an R/C airplane, this is great for any spying.

It feels really comfortable and It looks pretty sleek. Comparing to many other Spy Cameras, this really rocks. And it's fallen on the ground more than 5 times but still works really good, so your camera should not be messed as any rocking around during shipping will cause no damage unless it is heavily serious which is rather rare and very unlikely.Well I probably chose this particular rating because I guess this camera has got a lot of cool stuff in it, but at the same time a lot of disadvantages.

The camera is quite small ranging at a 5.5 cm length, 2.5 cm width, and is 2 cm in height, and is at a pretty good size. It does look a bit cool, and has a smooth feel to it, but still is annoying at times. The USB is at the bottom which does really annoy me when I try to make it stand vertically, even on the stands, but I don't really care about it. The camera does come with good accessories but don't fall for the trick that mentions it comes with a 4GB Micro SD card. It really doesn't and that is just annoying. Another thing to watch out for is the fact that it is not the real version of the MD80.

I've tried to use it as a webcam, but that doesn't really work. There is NO drivers for this MD80 which really stinks in some ways. But I have to say, the fake one probably has better video and sound quality, though I just can't get the MD80 to get pictures yet, which doesn't REALLY bother me, but still makes me feel bad. But other than that, I've got to say that this is one of the coolest camera's I've ever seen for it's size, shape, portability, and usefulness. This isn't a must-buy, but is definitely one of the coolest things ever in my opinion. This product is obviously not the highest quality, but for $10, it is a decent product. I purchased this as a POV audio/video recorder in the event of a situation where documenting the event may prove useful.

Video quality is acceptable, facial features are easily recognizable in good light, takes camera a moment to adjust for lower light but fairly decent even then. Audio is acceptable, sound quality is slightly less that clear, some background noise/static, but acceptable levels. Comes with a few mounting accessories that seem to be low quality construction/flimsy, but do hold the device. Fairly simple operation, have not tried the sound activation feature. Instruction manual is poorly translated to English but not difficult to figure out how to operate the device. Shipping was surprisingly fast, ordered yesterday and expected it tomorrow, but received it today with standard Prime eligible shipping, so that was nice.2 notes I have noticed complaints on- Not sure if they changed to product information, but when I ordered mine (yesterday), I had an option of purchasing a device with or without a microSD card. I chose without as I already have several.

Many people are complaining they ordered one and did not receive the card. Clearly states card is not included (at least when I ordered it did, before that I don't know). Also, date and time stamp is fairly simple to change. When you insert a microSD card, attach camera to your computer and the file should open showing DCIM folder and TAG text document. Simply open the TAG document and change the date and time using the format it was in to the current date and time, then save the changes.

That's it!All in all, I am not unsatisfied with this $10 device as of now. We'll see how long it lasts and hopefully I will be pleased well into the future.

Worth the Money for Something to Play Around With. It works, but is not really practical. I think it is a fun thing to check out, and I know I haven't figured out how to use it fully yet, but it's worth what little I paid for it.I gave it 4 stars. I couldn't give it a higher rating, because it didn't work at all when I got it. I took out the 4 screws holding it together, and saw that the battery was keeping the circuit board from aligning with the holes for the controls properly, so I cut a piece of the cardboard package it came in to put pressure on the board. It now works, but restarts every 10 minutes. I don't know why, unless it's to make it compatible with some antiquated computer.

Received mine today and it did have the 4GB micro sd card already in the micro slot and everything was included as advertised. Put a small charge on it and video was more than adequate for the investment and size. The instructions are hard to understand and read because the print is extremely small but a handy magnifier solved that. The CD didnt do anything when I installed in the cdrom and my puter could not find anything in the cdrom, but once I plugged in the USB for the charge WIN7 picked it up and loaded the driver. Maybe cuz I'm running 64bit system.

The camera seems to get warm when charging which I hope is normal, dont want to over charge. Overall satisfied with the shipping which was pretty quick and the product. Hope the unit will last and I cant complain for a $10.19 investment to my door. I bought this camera to use with RC helicopters and planes.

Software

The main appeal was price and the fact that there were no buttons the back or front so mounting will be a breeze (see the end of the review for more on that). The video is great considering the resolution.what I mean is.it's only 720x480 which is a FAR cry from HD but I knew the resolution when I bought it and it's what I expected. But I have to ding it a star for 3 reasons:#1. There is no 4gb card like the title says.

It DOES say in the description that a card is not included and after reading reviews I didn't expect one so I bought a cheap 8G sandisk to go with it. But ding for a bad title!#2. The instructions are crap-poorly translated and out dated.

No disc for drivers like the instruction state, etc. The sd card slot sucks. On my second insertion of the card I missed the internal slot and jammed it into the device.

It took some careful paper clip surgery to get it out. Ding 3.But not all is lost.

It appears there have been some nice firmware updates so a disk is not needed AT ALL. But you can't follow the instructions to set the time and such so let me tell you what I did on my Windows 7 PC.1. Put the memory card in the camera.

DO NOT FORCE IT.if it's not going in it's probably upside down. The metal contacts should be pointing it the same direction as the lens. Make sure you get it into the slot and not above it or you'll need to dig it out with something.2. Hook it up to your PC's USB port (I used a 2.0 port).3. Use your PC to format the card.I didn't take any chances.4. Let it charge a bit.6. Remove the USB plug.7.

Wait a few seconds for the red light to flash. Click Record (on the top). Record a bit. Click Record again to stop. Wait a few seconds until it's back to all blue.8. Plug it back into your PC.9. Open up explorer and look for TAG.TXT in the root directory (D: for me) and double-click to open it in notepad.10.

Change the date and time to the current date and time in YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss format (all on one line just like the existing date in the file) and save/close the file.11. Repeat steps 6-8 (to record a new video).12. From now on IGNORE TAG.TXT (it will be overwritten again, just do nothing with it). There should be two avi files in DCIM100MEDIA. One with a bad date, and one with a good one. From this point on the date/time should be good. HOWEVER, I'm not sure what will happen if the battery goes completely dry, you may have to edit the text file again. As for using this with Skype or some other web cam.again.you do NOT need a disk like the instructions state.atleast not with Windows 7 which is what I used.

Just turn the power on on the camera WHILE IT'S PLUGGED IN and it will go from charge/drive mode to live camera. In other words you won't see the drive in explorer any more. Also make sure there is a TF (microSD) card in the device even though you technically don't need it.Well that's it. Now go burn the instructions in effigy because it's crap. Ok.not completely since the pictures are good and the information about sound mode and what the lights mean are important, but in terms of setup it's crap. After all this I still need to give it 4 stars because technically it did what the specs said it did.

For using it with an RC product I highly recommend buying some stick-on velcro. Put the one side on the back and front of the unit and the other side on as many RC devices in whatever angle you want so you can move it from device to device. Once I can fly stuff without wrecking I'll buy a better camera and mount but for me and my 7 year this is perfect for now. With my amazon prime account I paid under $19 for a low res camera, 8 Gig card and it was in my hand next day.I can't complain. I also had to marvel at the fact that 8 gig of video fits on a card the size of my fingernail in a camera the size of my thumb and weighs less than a bag of chips.Mmmmmm.chips.gotta go.
